Showcase with Grace is more than a photography business. It is also a mission – a dream – to support those around us. We love this community and believe it is time to start giving back. Giving to those in need. To those who have been overlooked for far too long.
With this dream driving our company, we are committed to donating 5% of every session fee to a local charity. This commitment is only the beginning. As we grow as a company and connect with the community, we hope to do more to lift up those around us.
Why commit to serving?
Why make this a part of our company dream? To understand why, you must first understand who. Who is behind this company and who is driving it.
Let us introduce ourselves. I, Lizzie, met my now husband, Matt, while working together at a foster home. Together we experienced traumas some might say only exist in another country. We worked with children who had been starved, locked in cages, abused, etc. Some children we worked with became suicidal, aggressive, and so withdrawn we feared no one could bring them back. These children were frequently brought in covered in lice with their belongings in a trash bag and mixed with actual trash.
To not only see these things, but work in the home trying to rebuild the children who lived them, you change. Even when you leave the children to find a less traumatic place of employment, they stay with you. Some things can never be forgotten.
But they can be changed. They can be brought to light. We know we can’t change the world. But something we can do is look around our community. Take notice of who is here, next door, needing food and shelter. Needing support, guidance, education. We can see the charities already in place, and we can support them. 5% is where we start.
